Our school comprises of four classrooms that provide a wonderful, bright and appropriately stimulating learning environment for: Explorers, Lions and Top Cats ranging in age from 2 years to 5 years.

Explorers: 2-3+yrs (depending on when child turns 3)- Staff to child ratio 1:4 and 1:8 (max)

Lions: 3yrs-rising 4yrs - Staff ratio 1:4 and 1:8 (max)

Top Cats: Pre-School Class. Staff ratio 1:8 (max)

Each class is run by a fully qualified, fully checked member of staff who has an abundance of experience with the particular age group they are working with. Occasionlly they are supported by classroom assistants, although Discovery prides itself on the number of fully qualified staff it has. Currently, as of Summer 2006, we have 6 out of 8 qualified staff with 2 currently training to level 3.

We believe in employing staff who are able to bring experience to the position, and who are fully referenced, CRB checked etc.

We will of course be happy to discuss staffing further with you when you visit.

Our School - Your Child

Our ethos and way of learning provides a range of experiences that will stimulate a child's love of learning and natural discovery. With the right approach, children learn willingly and develop naturally.

It is hugely beneficial for children, to have the opportunity to experience many different things, which is why they have exposure to different teaching methods and learning experiences.

Discovery offers your child a holistic journey through 'traditional' nursery teaching and the Montessori approach, as well as Heuristic play. For most children, coming to Discovery is the first experience of 'life away from home'. Therefore, it is important that children are allowed to develop socially, emotionally, physically and creatively as well as academically.

As parents/carers, you are important too. Therefore we are always happy to discuss your child's progress, with you, as well as listen to concerns you may have; or answer any questions as they arise.

We have an open door policy; offer three parents' evenings; hold open forum meetings; a variety of evening talks and of course fun social occasions for you to enjoy with your child as well as sport's days, Christmas concerts etc.

All of our policies, procedures, operation planning and day-to-day planning can be found in the reception area of school, where you are more than welcome to take a look at any time you wish.
